When the pandemic first hit, I wanted to do what I could to help. Stuck in my house, I turned to what I knew best, custom apparel. Through Nireh Or, I created a graphic for a t-shirt for sale to raise money for a food bank.
In times of fear, many Jews turn to Psalm 23. They find comfort in its reminder that regardless of what comes, they are connected to God. “Though I walk through a valley of deepest darkness, I fear no harm, for You are with me.” I felt as though this phrase, in Hebrew known as “Gam Ki Eilech,” was an important reminder at a time of deep uncertainty and vulnerability.
The fundraiser raised $360 for the non-profit, Mazon.
A couple years later, well-known Jewish musician Josh Warshawsky licensed this image for his song, “Gam Ki Eilech.” You can now find the image on Spotify accompanying his beautiful song.
